Cecília Ferreira – Oral Rehabilitation • Dental Clinic Porto

Due to tooth loss in the upper arch, Cecília had been using a removable prosthesis for several years. Besides being unaesthetic, the prosthesis was not well-adapted, which affected her both functionally and socially.

After thorough study and planning, it was found that she had an atrophic maxilla requiring bone grafts to allow for implant placement. However, due to her fragile physical condition, this approach was not viable.

The decision was made to preserve the remaining teeth and create a combined prosthesis, which integrates a fixed prosthesis with a removable one. This means a total removable prosthesis that improves retention, stability, and force distribution through retentive mechanisms on the abutment teeth.

For the lower arch, an intensive in-office teeth whitening procedure was performed to correct the color, and a removable prosthesis was placed to replace the missing teeth.
