Bruxism is a condition often caused by factors such as stress, which manifests as involuntary clenching and grinding of the jaw. This repeated movement causes the teeth to start wearing down. Often, the movement happens at night, and our patients only notice it after some time, when the damage is already quite visible. In the first consultation with our patient, we started by conducting several oral exams. This is a routine procedure that we perform with all our patients to ensure their oral health and condition. This step is essential so we can recommend the most appropriate treatment for the patient.
In this case, we recommended treatment with dental veneers. When we want to make small corrections to aspects like color, shape, or position of the teeth, this is usually the best solution. Dental veneers are thin ceramic pieces that are applied over the teeth, like a cover, to create a more aesthetic and harmonious smile, perfectly mimicking natural teeth. In the second consultation, we began preparing the teeth to place the veneers. This involves a small amount of tooth reduction to create a surface where the veneer can adhere and remain stable for a long time. In this case, due to the patient’s oral condition, the reduction required was minimal. After the reduction, we applied temporary veneers made from a more flexible, but durable material, which allows the patient to continue their normal life while waiting for the final product.
In the third consultation, we proceeded to place the final dental pieces! We started with a trial, where we ensured the patient was satisfied with the final result, and then we performed the permanent cementation of the dental veneers, making any necessary adjustments to guarantee a perfect fit.
With dental veneer treatment, we were able to give the patient a new smile in a short period of time, more aesthetic and harmonious, with all the characteristics of natural teeth!
