Sara Cunha
Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery
Dr. Sara Cunha completed her medical training at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Nova University of Lisbon, having spent one year of training in Florence, Italy.
She completed an internship in Microsurgery at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and Tissue Engineering Research Laboratory at KU-Leuven University Hospitals in Belgium.
She practices in the specialty of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, with training at the Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho Hospital Center, Hospital da Prelada, and Lisbon North Hospital Center.
Dr. Cunha is involved in several scientific societies, study groups, and is a member of various scientific journals.
She was a volunteer lecturer at the Master’s in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon from 2011 to 2015 and at the Master’s in Medicine of ICBAS from 2016 to 2017.
She has authored 72 scientific communications and 3 articles in international journals, and has participated as an invited speaker at 5 conferences. She has received 2 Best Oral Communication awards and the Stryker Fellow scholarship from Operation Smile.
She is also a co-founder of AHEAD, an NGO that develops projects in Portugal, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe focused on education, particularly in the area of health. She is a Fellow of EBOPRAS (European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery).
She is the head of the Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Unit at the Entre Douro e Vouga Hospital Center (CHEDV).
