Dental Implants • Dr. Marisa Zenha Dental Clinic in Porto

Here I present a special case of a patient who had an ameloblastoma (a rare benign tumor that grows in the bones of the mouth, especially in the jaw, causing symptoms like facial swelling or difficulty moving the mouth).

This tumor, if not removed, gradually destroys the jaw over time. In Victor’s case, there had already been extensive tooth loss and severe destruction.

After removing the tumor, we reconstructed the jaw with a free fibula graft and after 6 months, we placed the implants and performed a gum plastic surgery to reduce its intraoral volume. The next step involved placing a fixed prosthesis over the implants in the upper arch, and crowns were placed on the implants in the spaces where teeth were missing in the lower arch.

The result is this. A change in health and comfort.
